The Magic of an Evening Ritual

1/22/2025

Imagine that you've had a stressful or difficult day, and you're now at home, with pajamas and slippers on.

Instead of trying to move on as if the stress didn't happen, what would it be like to have a comforting evening ritual as familiar as your slippers, that you could use to process and let that stress go?

One of the promises and part of the magic of evening rituals is letting go of whatever you have had to deal with and being rewarded with comfort as you do so. Having something to celebrate, too, is icing on the cake.

Picture

Making Evenings Sacred

Every evening offers us an invitation - to release what we've carried and return to ourselves.

But that doesn't mean we pretend the hard parts of our day didn't happen. In fact, that's exactly what we don't want to do, because when we avoid what we're feeling, we're guaranteed to take it with us, when what we need to do is let go.

But an evening ritual gives us a chance to  acknowledge what was difficult, celebrate what was beautiful, and intentionally choose what we carry forward into our rest and into the next day.

Setting the Scene &
Getting Things Ready

If you're like me, you don't want to have to gather up everything before each ritual. So I suggest a basket or another place where it's already there and you can use it immediately.

If it can be near the place you'll be doing the ritual, even better.

You could designate a candle, certain crystals, essential oils, a blanket, a journal and any other tools you know will be right for your evening ritual. Keep in mind what you might need for the energetic space, too, like something to clear the area, or something that brings you peace.

One way to stay in sync with the earth's rhythms and your own would be to dim your lights as it gets dark out. If you want to light a candle or two, you could and that would make things cozy for the ritual.

You might also try soft sounds or silence. A cup of tea.

And choose your most comfy clothes, and the most comfortable seat in your home.

Picture

The Evening Ritual

This simple practice helps you process your day and give yourself a peaceful evening in exchange for any tension the day left behind...

(1) Acknowledge & Let Go

Hold your warm tea and take a few deep breaths, releasing tension with each exhale.

Identify any moment from the day that you want or need to let go of, and with each breath, or each sip of tea, imagine that it is dissolving.

Try this affirmation:
"I release what's too heavy to carry. I keep what serves me best."

(2) Celebrate What was Good

Place one hand on your heart as you remember moments of joy, kindness or self-love, or anything you want to experience more of in the days to come. Let yourself fully feel it again, and visualize its energy expanding and settling into your heart.

(3) Coming Home to Peace

Luxuriate in whatever is warm, soothing, soft or cozy, whether that's a blanket, your tea, your candle or anything else you have with you.

Take another deep breath and use this or another affirmation you prefer - "I'm returning to peace. I'm home now."

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine

Morning Moments: Rituals that Feel like Coming Home

1/21/2025

Mornings have always been difficult for me. I'm a night owl.

But having a slow morning ritual helps tremendously. Not one I feel obligated to do, but one I know will allow me to wake up slowly, offer me comfort, connect me to myself in a deeper way and ground me as I start the day.

And those moments of connecting to my divine self do feel like coming home. Let's take a look at how you can create that kind of ritual, too.

Picture

First Moments: Creating
the Foundation

The key to a morning ritual that truly nurtures you is letting go of the "shoulds." It's going to be your morning ritual and it can be any way you want.

The goal is to honor your natural rhythm and create the feelings you want to experience.

So you can start exactly where you are...

If, like I do, you need to stay in bed for those first few moments, stay there. If you need to move slowly, at first, move slowly.

Sometimes I just sit and stare into space until I start to come to life.

Maybe you need absolute quiet. Or perhaps soft music would be better?

Your morning ritual can begin the moment you first become aware of being awake.

Take three gentle breaths. Feel the weight of your body being supported. And if you're ready, check in with your spirit team, and feel that support, too.

Creating a Cozy Morning Space

Make your space feel like comfort and coziness waiting to hug you.

From your cozy corner or window seat, you might want to grab your softest blanket and watch the day wake up as you do. No need to move for a while, because you'll have everything you need nearby.

For example, I like to light a candle and be aware of how its scent wakes up as gradually as I do. But if I had to dig that candle out from somewhere, it might not feel worth it to me.

By the way, your bed can be a cozy wake-up spot, too. Just place what you will need on your night stand.

Whatever spot you choose, make it feel like a sanctuary. Keep your comfort tools within easy reach - your favorite mug or candle, a throw to wrap up in.

Maybe a crystal or two, or an essential oil body spray? Your journal and fave pen?

Picture

Morning Rituals that Feel
Like Coming Home

Though you want to choose whatever will feel most comforting, here are some ideas to consider as you think about what will happen in your morning ritual...

(1) A Cup of Warmth - feeling the shape and warmth of the cup you're holding as you sip your tea or coffee. And if you want delight, add yummy creamers or whatever makes it irresistible.

(2) Connecting to Inner Wisdom - try this: place your hand on your heart and ask yourself, what do I need today?

You also can breathe into the space around you and connect to your higher self that way.

When you connect through the heart, you can trust the guidance or wisdom that comes. It may not always come in words, though, and your understanding of it might unfold along with your day.

(3) Add the Magic - light a candle and watch its flame. Draw a tarot or oracle card to enhance your guidance. Write a line or two in your journal.

When Mornings Feel Heavy

Sometimes, you just won't feel like starting the day. Especially if you're not a morning person.

But there also may be a sense of heaviness, if you're going through something difficult right now. At times like that, it might seem like every part of your ritual is just too much.

I have a chronic illness. And on the day I wrote this post, I just couldn't dance.

You see, I got this idea from Julie Jordan-Scott to dance for a few minutes when I'm first waking up. The first day I boogied to Boogie Shoes, by KC & The Sunshine Band. On day two, my body said no.

When that happens to you, and for whatever reason, you know it's just not going to happen that day, don't push or force yourself. Instead, surrender, and be kind.

Take several deep breaths and ask yourself, given what's going on, how you want to feel and how best to take care of yourself. Make that your ritual, if and when you can.

As they say, it's okay to not be okay.

Creating a Sustainable
Morning Routine

In order for your morning ritual to be sustainable...

(1) It needs to be simple and easy to do

(2) It can't be done out of obligation.

(3) It should have your personal stamp all over it and contain #allthethings you love.

With all of that in place, you'll have created a daily practice for coming home to yourself.

Do you have a daily morning ritual yet? One that you love?

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine

Wicked Comfort: Elphaba Inspires Emotional Self-Care

1/20/2025

I hope you're happy in the end. I hope you're happy, my friend. - Defying Gravity, Wicked
Picture

What Can We Learn from Wicked?

In Wicked, Elphaba's story is likely to resonate with anyone who felt different or misunderstood as they grew up. But it would be especially meaningfully for those of us who are highly sensitive healers.

She was ostracized not just for her green skin, but for her powerful magic - a gift that made others uncomfortable simply because it made her extraordinary.

Spoiler Alert

Her journey leads her to an important realization: the very magic she was shamed for became her source of power when she finally embraced it fully. Her freedom came not from changing who she was, but from accepting her true self.

This resonates so deeply with the path of comfort-centered healing. When we create space for self-acceptance through gentle rituals, we give ourselves permission to rediscover our own magic - those innate gifts we might have hidden away because they made us feel too different, too sensitive, or too much.

Comfort rituals offer their own kind of magic.

Wrapped in softness and steeped in self-love, we find the courage to be who we really are. These quiet moments of tender self-care can become portals that empower us to see our sensitivity not as a burden, but as the source of our own magic.

Like Elphaba did, we can redefine ourselves - not by defying gravity, but by creating those gentle moments where we allow our authentic selves to take flight in our everyday lives.

The Takeaway

The truth of who we are is not defined by the way others see us or react to us. We redefine ourselves when we can finally see ourselves clearly, and that can happen more easily in moments of comfort and emotional self-care.

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine

Finding & Following Your Natural Rhythm

1/16/2025

Finding your natural rhythm is one of the simplest ways to create a sense of stability in your everyday life. For sensitive healers, the world can feel overwhelming, making it even more important to recognize and honor your own pace. When you align with your rhythm, it’s easier to build a comforting lifestyle that feels both gentle and soothing.

Let’s explore how you can discover your rhythm and weave it into your daily life.

Picture
Your natural rhythm is like your inner clock. It governs how you feel throughout the day, your energy levels, and even the habits that bring you joy. For highly sensitive healers, this rhythm may look very different than it does for others.

What's Natural Rhythm?

Natural rhythm is the way your energy, mood, and focus ebbs and flows as you move through your day.

It’s deeply personal and can depend on everything from sleep patterns to emotional needs. When you can tune into this rhythm, life will feel easier and more fulfilling.

Instead of forcing yourself to follow external schedules or societal expectations, honoring your natural pace allows you to work with your energy rather than against it.

Identifying Your Unique Patterns

As a sensitive healer, you may notice that even small shifts in their environment can affect energy levels. This heightened awareness offers you the opportunity to take note of those shifts as they occur.

Questions to Ask Yourself

(1) When do you feel the most awake and energized?

(2) Are there moments in your day when you feel emotionally drained?

(3) What tasks or environments help you feel more centered and calm?

By observing your everyday life, you’ll start noticing the shifts and patterns that make up your rhythm. Keep track of how food, sleep, and even your interactions with others influence your energy.

Picture

How to Discover Your Rhythm

If figuring out your natural rhythm feels challenging, there are simple methods you can use to uncover it.

Journaling for Reflection

Journaling is like creating a map of your inner world.

Take a week or so, and at the end of each day, jot down moments when you felt the most vibrant and times when you felt your mood or energy dip. Note how specific activities, foods, or emotions influenced you.

Over time, patterns will emerge that give you insight into what works for you—and what doesn’t. Journaling isn’t about perfection, it’s about small observations that lead to awareness.

Listening to Your Body

Our bodies give us signals all day long, but it’s easy to ignore them. You might feel a tightness in your chest after a stressful moment or notice you feel lighter after a peaceful walk.

Pause throughout the day to gently ask yourself...

(1) How does my body feel right now?

(2) What does it need? (Rest? Movement? A break from stimulation?)

These intentional check-ins strengthen the connection you have with your natural rhythm.

Weave Your Rhythm into
Your Everyday Life

Once you’ve uncovered your natural rhythm, the next step is weaving it seamlessly into your routine.

Follow the Flow of Your Moods & Energy Levels

And plan accordingly. Try to align what you do and when with the energy and mood you have at different times of the day.

Take advantage of the times when you know you will have more energy or feel more clear, to do the things you find challenging.

And during lower-energy times, take more time for things that soothe you. As a sensitive healer, self-care will mean prioritizing comfort over external demands during these moments.

Creating Daily Routines that Reflect Your Rhythm

Your daily routines should support you, not box you in. Develop a structure that feels flexible enough to accommodate your natural rhythm.

For instance, you might start your morning with grounding rituals like breathing exercises, stretching, or sipping tea in silence.

I like to meditate in the morning, but during the first hour or two of my day, I know I won’t be able to focus or concentrate as well as I will later. So I’ve learned to find easier things to do until I’m more awake, instead of trying to force myself to meditate when I first get up.

Another way to honor your rhythm is to build breaks into your day to recharge, whether that’s stepping outside for fresh air or having a quiet moment to recenter.

So the more you notice the times when your energy stalls or your mood dips, the easier it will be to plan for breaks at those times. And to choose activities that match what you need.

Picture

Permission to Honor Your
Natural Rhythm

As sensitive healers, we often absorb the energy of the people around us. Sometimes that leads to feelings of pressure to conform to faster-paced schedules or external demands.

But it’s important to give yourself permission to prioritize your well-being. You don’t need to match someone else’s rhythm.

What works perfectly for someone else might not work for you at all, but it’s not you that’s wrong, it’s the time, task or choice.

It’s okay to decline invitations that feel overwhelming, take breaks when you need them, or ask for help when energy feels low. Honoring your rhythm will allow you to show up as your best self—not just for others, but also for yourself.

The Takeaway

Finding your natural rhythm requires both self-awareness and self-compassion. It’s about tuning into your energy, listening to your body, and respecting your unique needs.

For sensitive healers, aligning with your rhythm is more than just a strategy; it’s a deeply healing practice that can build emotional resilience and create lasting comfort.

So, start small. Pay attention, experiment, and allow your rhythm to guide you.

Make this new practice of following your own rhythm an important part of your comfort apothecary.

Finding Peace in the Small Moments

1/15/2025

We've been conditioned to think that living peacefully requires big changes or grand experiences.

A weekend retreat. An hour of meditation every day. A complete life overhaul.

But actually, some of the most powerful healing can happen in the smallest moments. And I have discovered that peace isn't something we have to chase (which I've been doing all my life), but something we can find in between breaths.

I feel peaceful every time I am still, and I practice stillness every day. The shift I'd like to make next is to remember (more often) the peaceful moments during ones that are less so, because then I'll know they can return with a pause for stillness and a deep breath.

What is your experience when it comes to everyday moments of peace?

Picture

The Magic of Everyday Moments

You don't need a meditation room or an hour of uninterrupted time to find peace. Micro-moments of comfort can happen...

while preparing your tea
while sipping and holding your tea
while you pause to breathe deeply
while looking at the trees through your window
while feeling into the space around you
while visualizing the day you want to have
while you curl up under a blanket or throw
while watching a movie or reading a book

The key is to be aware and open to receiving during those moments.

Simple Ways to Access Peace

Here are several things to try, mindfully, to experience moments of peace...

(1) Place your hand on your heart and take a breath.

(2) Feel your feet connecting with the ground.

(3) Notice the texture of whatever you're touching.

(4) Look out the window and find something beautiful.

(5) Whisper a two-word prayer and try breathing into it: "I'm peaceful" or "I'm safe."

Take a moment to try one or two of those ideas now.

When Life Feels Overwhelming

In those moments that feel like too much, or when you need more support...

let your shoulders drop
whisper the word "peace"
feel the support of whatever is holding you

Peace lives in the small moments, in the gentle pauses, in the quiet spaces between everything else. Your sensitivity allows you to find these moments more easily than others do.

Isn't that beautiful? I'm really grateful that's true.

What do you think? Can you tell from reading this post that finding peace might be more simple than you've been led to believe?

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine

When Life is too Much: Tender Ways to Hold Big Emotions

1/14/2025

When I was growing up, there was a Secret deodorant commercial that ended by saying, “never let ‘em see you sweat!” And I used to tease my mother and tell her that was her life motto.

But I took it in as a rule, too, because that really was a way of life for my mother. When I would come home crying, she’d lecture me about giving them the satisfaction and tell me not to feel whatever I was feeling.

So I tried very hard to be just like her. And for quite some time, it was nearly impossible.

But eventually, I did so well at pretending all was well that people used to tell me I looked peaceful when I was raging on the inside.

When I was in my 20s, a therapist threatened to fire me because I was telling her painful stories with absolutely no emotional expression. I convinced her to keep me, but like The Velveteen Rabbit, it took me a long time to become real.

And even longer to learn how to cope with the intense feelings I had.

How do you deal with big feelings? Let’s talk about that, today.

Picture

How to Respond to Big Feelings

As a sensitive healer, you’re bound to feel things more deeply than most. And like me, you may have learned that the best way to deal with difficult feelings is to hide them from yourself, or to talk yourself out of them.

What should you do instead? First, make sure they are yours.

You’re intuitive, probably an empath, which means that you are constantly tuning into to the thoughts, feelings, attitudes, longings and impulses of others. And of course, the problem is that they feel like they are your own.

Ask to clear everything but your own energy and use a clearing tool or technique, like visualizing the energy going into the ground to be transmuted and then to come back to you as love.

But once you know that the intense or painful feelings are really yours, resist the temptation to deny or talk yourself out of them. In Wicked, the real hero is the woman with all the intensity.

Instead, I suggest a more tender approach that bathes you in self-love and self-acceptance. Reach for them both, rather than self-criticism or rejection.

Picture

Journaling & Other
Mindful Practices

Allow yourself to sit with your emotions, accepting them exactly as they are. Imagine wrapping these feelings in a soft, comforting blanket of light, as if you are cradling them gently with understanding and compassion.

This practice can help you develop a sense of safety within yourself, creating a space where you feel free to explore and express your true feelings without fear or judgment.

Use journaling as a way to give voice to your feelings. Let your thoughts flow onto the page, without censoring them.

When I began to journal or talk about my feelings with friends, I found that it made the situations that led to them much more clear. I often discovered needs I hadn’t recognized before and become aware of boundaries that I needed to set.

Boundaries are an act of self-love, but sometimes we pretend we don’t need them. Allowing yourself to identify what you are feeling, and why, will help you love yourself more by setting the boundaries you know need to be established and expressed.

To help yourself catch hidden feelings in the act, add mindful practices to your daily routine, such as meditation or deep breathing, so you can stay grounded and connected to your inner self.

It’s
also important to stay fully present with your emotions, so that you can respond with self-love rather than react from a place of fear or avoidance.

Picture

It may not always feel that way, but being a sensitive healer is a gift, and your deep feelings are part of that gift. By responding with tenderness, and acceptance, you’ll likely find that you feel more connected to your true self and you’ll understand yourself more.

And here’s another beautiful thing about maintaining that level of self-awareness and acceptance - your ability to support and heal others will grow.

Does this post resonate with you? Ask yourself if you need to shift anything about the way you respond to your feelings.

Take a moment to imagine a whole year of responding with love and tenderness, instead of denial and rejection.

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine

1/9/2025

Picture

As sensitive healers, we feel everything deeply. So we need comfort tools and techniques - the practices and sacred objects that help us return to peace when life feels overwhelming.

Think of it as a kind of emotional first aid kit, or a cozy comfort basket that's always within reach,  to help you feel held and supported during the difficult moments in your life. The challenges that won't let go.

What to Add to Your
Comfort Toolkit

As you read through this list, imagine using the things that come to mind. If just thinking about them makes you feel warmed or comforted, add them to your list of possibilities.

(1) Calming scents that bring you peace (lavender, vanilla, whatever you find comforting)

(2) Sounds that soothe you or feel healing - perhaps a favorite playlist of music you love or nature sounds

(3) Textures that are comforting - smooth stones, soft fabric, anything that helps you stay present or that comforts you

(4) Crystals that resonate with your energy, that you find calming or grounding (obsidian, rose quartz, or others)

Sacred Practices or Rituals

(1) A simple breathing technique that feels like coming home to yourself

(2) Affirmations or a mantra that brings you peace

(3) A grounding visualization that helps you feel safe

(2) Reading while listening to music or sitting outside in nature

(3) Watching TV or movies, especially old favorites that are as comfy as a pair of flannel pjs.

Hopefully, you have some of these list items within easy reach already, but if you don't, try adding one or two at a time and see how they feel.

And I'd love to know which ones you have and already use, if you'd like to share. I have and use them all, though not every day.

See you tomorrow!

Emotional Self-Care for Grief & Loss

1/8/2025

Picture

I believe that most, if not all, of the challenges we experience in life are related to unresolved grief/loss or fear of loss. Even anger or character traits and behaviors we criticize, like arrogance, control, deception, superiority, etc., can probably be traced back to a loss or a fear of losing something of value.

It's difficult to be our best or most authentic selves when we are grieving or afraid of loss.

Our world rearranges itself and what we see, think and feel changes into something that's not 100% clear. And possibly, not the entire truth.

Also, I'm not sure we can be alive and not be grappling with it in some way, or be affected by others who are doing so. So that makes emotional self-care and the ability to soothe & comfort ourselves of paramount importance.

Especially if we want to live in truth, peace, harmony and authenticity.

Take a deep breath and let's dive in.

What Grief Looks Like

As we all know, grief isn't just about losing someone to death. We grieve lost relationships, lost dreams, lost versions of ourselves.

We grieve changes in health, changes in circumstances, changes in how we thought our lives would unfold. Sometimes we even grieve things we never had - the childhood we deserved, the love we longed for, the opportunities that passed us by.

I am grieving something in every category in that last paragraph, not to mention the one before.

For example, I was talking to a roommate a few weeks ago about my dream of a big, family home that "the kids" would come to at least once a year, at Christmas. Well, so far, I have had to amend that to the one kid dropping by the apartment for a quick exchange of gifts.

No matter what the loss is, they all deserve to be grieved and honored. Each one shapes how we move through the world, how we protect ourselves, how we connect with others.

Picture

What Would You Want in Your Grief Comfort Kit?

(Picture above - I'd want trips to the ocean in my comfort kit)

When we already know how to take care of ourselves, in response to grief, it can help us be kinder and more tender with ourselves as losses occur.

Let's have a look at what you might want to add to your collection of tools and practices for responding to grief...

PHYSICAL COMFORT

(1) A soft blanket that feels like a gentle hug

(2) Soothing tea that warms from the inside

(3) Comforting scents that ground you in the present

(4) Objects that help you feel held and supported

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

(1) Being able to share your feelings with simple phrases that acknowledge your pain: "This hurts. This matters. I'm here."

(2) Permission to feel whatever you feel

(3) Gentle movement to help emotions move through

(4) Safe spaces to express feelings without judgment

SPIRITUAL CONNECTION

(1) Rituals that honor what's been lost

(2) Practices that help you feel less alone

(3) Ways to find meaning without forcing silver linings

(4) Connections to something larger than your pain

If this were a checklist, how many would you be able to check off?

Tea Recipe

We keep talking about tea, but I haven't shared any recipes. Here's my favorite tea! ...

Picture

Walmart's Great Value decaf teabag
Sugar or sweetener to taste
1/5 teaspoon of a caramel apple drink mix
1 tablespoon of Torino's vanilla bean syrup
2 tablespoons of International Delight's Cinnabon creamer

See you next time!

The Ultimate Guide to Creating a Comfort Apothecary

1/7/2025

For sensitive healers, creating a comfort apothecary isn't a luxury; it's a lifeline.

This personal sanctuary—a collection of soothing rituals, healing tools, and calming practices—offers a space for renewal and protection.

As a healer, you often give so much to others, but you also need gentle, dedicated care for yourself. Your comfort apothecary will become your daily toolkit for mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Let’s explore how you can craft your own refuge for comfort-centered living and gentle healing.

Picture

What is a Comfort Apothecary?

A comfort apothecary is a personalized collection designed to care for your soul. Think of it as a blend of spiritual and self-care tools, cozy rituals, and grounding techniques that help you return to a state of balance. For sensitive individuals, this isn’t just indulgence—it's about survival.

These tools honor the delicate, intuitive nature that makes healers so special. Whether it's earthy grounding techniques or the soothing scent of lavender, each element in a comfort apothecary is a reminder that your comfort matters, too.

Importance of Comfort, Gentle Healing & Protecting Against Overwhelm

Sensitive healers are acutely tuned into the emotions and energies of others. This is your gift, but it can also be draining.

Without an intentional focus on your own comfort, you risk burnout, emotional overwhelm, and physical fatigue.

Creating a comfort apothecary enables you to reclaim peace amid external chaos. It safeguards your energy and fosters a habit of receiving care instead of always giving it. Gentle healing practices reinforce that you're worthy of the same nurturing you offer others.

Comfort-Centered Practices
for Your Apothecary

To create a meaningful comfort apothecary, you’ll need supportive practices that bring you calm and clarity. Here are a few that can help...

Mindfulness Techniques

Mindfulness isn’t complicated, but it does take practice. It’s simply being present in the current moment without judgment.

Sensitive healers often get lost in overthinking or absorbing other people’s energy. Mindfulness helps you stay connected to yourself.

Start with small steps. Dedicate five minutes a day to being fully aware of your breath, your body, or the sensations around you. Whether you’re sipping tea or sitting quietly, mindfulness trains your mind to find stillness when it’s needed most.

Breathing Exercises

Breathing slowly and deeply is one of the simplest tools for resetting your nervous system. When you're overwhelmed, intentional breathing can bring an immediate sense of relief.

Try the 4-7-8 technique: inhale deeply through your nose for 4 counts, hold for 7 counts, and exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 counts. Repeat three or four times.

This simple exercise signals your body to relax and conserves your energy.

Grounding Rituals

Sensitive healers can feel untethered after giving so much energy to others. Grounding brings awareness back to your physical body and surfaces a sense of safety.

Walk barefoot on grass or soil to connect with the earth. Hold a stone or crystal like obsidian in your hand and let its weight anchor you.

If getting out into nature isn’t an option, imagine roots extending from your feet into the ground. Grounding keeps you steady when life feels unstable.

Tools & Resources You Can Use for Creating Comfort Rituals & Gentle Healing

Here are physical tools you can include in your comfort apothecary to empower your healing rituals. One way they help is by creating sensory anchors that promote peace and balance.

5 Soothing Essential Oils and Their Magic

Essential oils are a quick way to reset emotionally and physically. Choose scents that calm the nervous system and create a comforting environment.

As a starting point for an essential oil collection, here are common choices:

(1) Lavender: Generates calm and soothes energy for better sleep.

(2) Frankincense: Makes meditation easier & helps with spiritual grounding.

(3) Chamomile: Reduces stress and soothes away emotional tension.

(4) Bergamot: Uplifts your mood during tough days.

(5) Rose: Comforts and opens the heart and nurtures emotional healing.

Once you have a small-but-mighty collection of essential oils, you can create your own blends for body butters, bath salts, or room sprays to use during reflective moments. For example, lavender and chamomile body lotion can relax you before bed, while a bergamot and frankincense candle could set the tone for a peaceful evening.

Herbal Teas, Lotions & Potions, and Other Remedies

Herbs have been used for centuries to heal both body and spirit. Adding herbal teas or homemade remedies to your apothecary can nourish you from the inside out.

(1) Peppermint tea: Calms digestion and clears the mind.

(2) Lemon balm tea: Soothes anxiety and promotes relaxation.

(3) Chamomile tea: Eases both physical and emotional tension.

Beyond teas, consider mixing herbal bath blends or calming salves. A warm chamomile-infused bath can feel like a reset button for your soul.

Journaling for Comfort & Emotional Healing

Journaling is a magical portal to self-discovery and to letting go emotionally. It allows you to pour out your worries, reflect on your feelings, and cultivate gratitude.

Try creating cozy rituals as you begin your daily journaling practice. Write each morning with a warm cup of tea to ground your day.

Or, try evening reflections, jotting down three moments of comfort you experienced.

Keep prompts simple...

What comforted me today?
What drained me?
What do I need to let go of today?
How can I nurture myself tomorrow?

Creating Your Comfy
Healing Space

The environment around you plays a significant role in your well-being. Your healing space doesn’t need to be elaborate—it just needs to feel like home.

Choosing a Cozy Corner at Home

Select a space—no matter how small—that you can dedicate to your comfort and healing.

It could be a chair by the window, a corner of your bedroom, or even a nook on the balcony. Choose somewhere quiet where you can retreat, recharge, and reflect.

Decor and Ambiance

Make your space as inviting as possible, with soft textures and gentle lighting. Fuzzy blankets, cushy pillows, and warm rugs bring coziness.

Use candles or string lights for a soft glow.

Surround yourself with meaningful objects like crystals, journals, or family photos. This space should feel uniquely yours.

SO LET'S REVIEW (or TL:DR)

Sensitive healers rely on their energy to care for others, but they also deserve comfort and care themselves. A personal comfort apothecary is an investment in your emotional, spiritual, and physical health.

By incorporating mindful practices, grounding rituals, healing tools, and soothing spaces, you’ll create a support system to nurture both your gifts and your spirit.

Start small, and let your apothecary evolve as you discover what soothes and restores you.

The Takeaway

If nothing else stays with you, know this - you deserve peace, healing, and moments of pure comfort—every single day. And it's more than worth the time it might take to create your comfort apothecary so you can have them.

Love, Jeanine

Day Dreaming: How to Craft an Ideal Day from the Inside Out

1/6/2025

What if the first few moments of your morning weren't about planning what you need to do, but dreaming about how you want to feel? What if day dreaming could be a sacred practice - one that helps you create days filled with more comfort, peace, and joy?

Well, we talked about that a little bit last week. But let's keep that conversation going.

It's my goal to dream my day into being from now on, starting with the feeling I want to have. But if nothing else changes, I've already found that it's easy to forget that dream and get distracted by the details of your day.

So we should probably explore what it might look like to keep the dream alive all day long.

But first, let's dive deeper into what we're actually talking about and why it's so important.

Day Dreaming as a
Sacred Practice

To Do or to Be, that is the Question

Okay, first I want to mention the tyranny of the to-do list. I know it has its place.

For example, if I didn't write things down and remind myself of what needs to be done, it might never happen!

But we lock in too tightly to a day designed around that list and it's easy to forget that the day actually belongs to you. Not that piece of paper.

And bowing down to the list almost always leads to pressure, which often leads to rushing.

Slow down. And remember that you're in charge of what you experience each day.

It deserves a great start, where you focus more on who you want to be and how you want to feel, then what you want to do.

Why You Need the Slower, More Gentle Approach

As sensitive souls, we often absorb the energy and expectations of those around us. let's face it - they are often co-authors of our to-do lists.

So it's easy for our days to become overwhelmed by others' needs. But when we take these first quiet moments to dream into our day, we create an energy bubble of intention.

And this gentle practice will help us stay connected to our own rhythm, and our own needs, even as we move through our busy days.

Give Yourself Permission to Dream First

There's a voice in our culture that says that dreaming isn't practical or productive, so we should just jump straight into action. But for sensitive healers, this quiet dreaming time is essential medicine.

It's creating a template of peace that can guide our whole day. When we start with that day dream, we're actually setting ourselves up to move through our day with more grace and gentleness.

Your Morning Dreaming Ritual

Your morning ritual can be as brief as placing your hand on your heart and making a wish, or as elaborate as a ten-course meal. It's the practice of moving through your morning more slowly and deliberately, and taking the time to dream that's important, not how long it takes.

But I wholeheartedly encourage you to make it a moment of joy and delight. Steep yourself in coziness and comfort.

Start with a few deep breaths, a few sips of tea, or both. Breathe into the space that surrounds you and connect to what's there (your higher self, the divine, the frequency of love, etc.)

And then begin the day dreaming process, centered around how you want your day to feel.

I want to feel loved
I want to feel held
I want to feel peaceful
I want to experience joy and delight
I want to feel safe

Those are some examples. After choosing a feeling to focus on, see which ideas come to you about simple ways to create those feelings.

You can add to this ritual in any way you'd like before bringing it to a close. One thing you might do is create an affirmation based on the feeling you chose, like peace is always available to me.

From the Dream to Reality

The magic happens when we begin weaving these morning dreams into our actual day. This isn't about rigid planning - it's about creating gentle touchstones of comfort and peace.

If you dreamed of feeling peaceful, you might...

(1) Place a small crystal or stone on your desk as a reminder to pause and breathe

(2) Set a gentle timer to remind you to take comfort breaks

(3) Keep your favorite tea nearby for moments of sacred sipping

If you dreamed of feeling held and supported, try:
(1) Wrapping yourself in something soft when you need comfort

(2) Creating tiny sanctuary spaces in your home or workspace

(3) Taking a moment to feel your feet on the ground when things feel overwhelming
But I must remind you that this is about aligning with your intention, not perfectly living it out. Letting go of the outcome removes all the pressure of the perfectionistic standards we've all been taught to hold.

But your morning dreams do set the stage for the day you want to have. And you can create that day moment by moment as it unfolds.

When Your Days Don't Go
as Dreamed

As I suggested above: some days, life has other plans. The beautiful thing about day dreaming is that we can always return to it and start again.

When the day has veered wildly off course...
Take three gentle breaths
Place a hand on your heart
Tell yourself, "I can begin again right now"
Ask yourself, "What's one small way I can return to comfort?"

Even if the day's path looks different than you imagined, you can always find your way back to center.

You don't have to wait for tomorrow to realign with your vision of peace and comfort. You can pause, dream into the next moment, and begin again.

So, you might be thinking that basically, we're just talking about setting intentions. And intentions are at the heart of day dreaming.

But this dream is about how you want to experience and move through the day. It's a way to begin to create the peace and the comfort and the joy that you want, day by day.

So what do you think? Is day dreaming a morning practice you intend to try?

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine
