The Mini Me Before Future Me

Years ago, I had a healing practice.

My first clients were assigned to me (and other coaches) as Healing Codes clients. I taught them how to do the codes and how to recognize a healing response and I got them started on their journey.

But sometimes they chose to continue working with me and pay for distant healing sessions over the phone. But during those sessions, I didn’t only do the Codes...

Mini Me

During my distant healing sessions, I would put the phone down and imagine the person sitting in front of me.

Sometimes I added a crystal. Sometimes an essential oil blend. Sometimes I used an elemental healing practice I had created myself.

Or I might use a crystal wand to clear their energy field. I sometimes spoke words of healing or affirmation into their energy field. If I had a vision of an inner child, I would offer healing and talk to her.

One client told me she would begin feeling my energy before we ever got on the phone, and she would already start feeling better. Another brought me dreams, and those dreams helped us get to the heart of beliefs and distortions we might not otherwise have found.

My clients seemed to heal faster when I was able to use whatever they needed at the time.

Even more than the healing practice, I miss the woman who had it.

Her life was far from perfect. But she had a path.
She had a healer website and even found a couple of clients through it.

But more importantly, she was learning how to carve cozy good days out of an imperfect life. And she knew where she was going.

Then my mother died.

When I eventually moved out of that apartment, it felt as though I left that version of myself behind.

And she never came back.

Since then, I have had to relearn things I once knew. Rebuild things I once had. Try to find my way back to a path I used to be able to see clearly.

You were imagining the medicine woman at the bookcase as a future self: deeply resourced, able to recognize what someone needs, able to draw from many forms of medicine rather than one system. And then you remembered more vividly that your old healing practice already contained a smaller, earlier version of that exact way of working.

Future Me

Lately, I’ve been asking myself what kind of life I want to create and who my future self might be.

But just as I've been saying - that the future version of me I am becoming is not entirely new. Neither is the life I want. My mini me lived quite a bit of it before.

So what I want to do is reconnect with the version of me that I left behind and discover what she knows now. But I also want to remember the good things about the way I lived my life back then. Maybe that will make it easier to create the upgraded version I want to create now.

Do you have a time in your life like that, and a version of yourself that you miss?

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine

I like the idea that the person we hope to become isn't always someone entirely new, but sometimes someone we're finding our way back to. I hope reconnecting with that part of yourself brings you the clarity and purpose you're looking for.

Right? I mean I'd rather do that than have to become something I'm not. Thanks!

This one went straight to my heart. 🥹I understand how losing your mother can divide life into a before and an after (I've talked about the same thing in my post today!) - and how easy it is to feel that an earlier version of yourself disappeared with her. Like Tamara said, I also like the idea that your future self may not be someone new, but an upgraded return to the woman who already knew the way. 🤗

Yes! Exactly. I'm hoping I'm right about that. Thank you so much for sharing the way you did in your blog post. I've told a lot of people how hard it was for me when my mother died and very few have acknowledged having that same sense of before and after or feeling like they lost themselves, too.

There are definitely parts of me that I’ve left behind over the years - some good, some I happily left behind. One part that I would love to reclaim is the days before children - before life stresses crept in, when my husband and I were newly married and we were lighter and freer.

I know what you mean! And as you know, I've been experimenting with calling back parts of myself that feel lost to me. I say things like, "today, I'm walking in the energy of the part of me who..." or "I'm calling back the me who..."

Jeanine, I hope you're keeping a journal. I sense there is far more behind the sentences you've shared today. When my mother died, I was a basket case for awhile, as I had thought I might be. A few weeks of cleaning out her garage and helping with the estate helped. I never lost any of my healing passion or skills. Now you: I don't believe you really lost your healer self. Did your desire go away? Fill me in. Much love--

A real journal would be good - instead of just grabbing paper whenever I think about it. :) Well, I did lose my healer self for a while. And when I began to try to get her back, those strong feelings of competence and confidence were nowhere to be found. I'm still working on it. That's wonderful that you were helped by cleaning out her things. That was hard for me, too. My sister did a lot of it.

Jeanine, from my professional healer self: for loss of self-esteem, would you do a $20 experiment? I recommend you order Bach Flower Remedy "Pine" and commit to taking the drops 3-4 x per day. When you have the drops, I will send an energy imprint on the airwaves. Then journal briefly each day as to how strong your spirit is feeling. Does this sound like a fun experiment? Just reach out with any questions. Much love--Kebba

Kebba, I love that idea! But I am nervous about it at the same time because I'm allergic to trees. I don't really have experience with flower essences and one of the reasons I never tried to earn it for myself was the fear that I might be allergic to all the flowers, LOL. Is there any way you could send the imprint without my getting the pine?

Interesting blog Jeanine. The only version of my life I miss are the times with Rich. It seems like most of the time I'm just going through the motions of life and putting on a happy face and saying everything is okay when it's not. I can't connect with the version I left behind.

(((Martha))), I'm sorry you are going through the motions. I know you can't get back the part of you that lived with Rich, but I wonder if you could call back or pray to connect with the part of you who felt deeply secure in Rich's love or connected to it. I think that is one of the hardest things when we lose someone is not feeling their love in the same way.

    Hi, I'm Jeanine

I've got a cup of tea nearby, a journal within reach, and one more cozy idea than I have time to create. Here I write about comfort, future self living, spiritual growth, rituals, and all the little things that help us remember who we are.
