On the other side of the life you are trying to keep together, on the other side of the pain you think will never dissolve into peace, on the other side of everything you are forcing-is the life that is waiting. The life that is gently asking you to let go and see it. The life that's been waiting, all this time, for you to arrive. - Brianna Wiest It might surprise you to hear that when I look ahead to what I want for the year to come, I think about you, too. I wish for you, in addition to the wishes I make for myself and my own life. I think about what I hope you will experience, what I hope will change for you. How you might blossom into the truest you and live into the life you want most. All in one magical, wonderful new year! A time filled with possibility. It's not unattainable resolutions that are important, it's opening your heart to your own magic and possibility. That doesn't mean you won't also have an eyes-wide-open awareness of negativity that might come your way. And it doesn't mean pretending you won't have the ongoing challenges you already experience, like grief or chronic illness or depression and anxiety. What it does mean is letting yourself dream of how good it could get, in spite of or in addition to whatever else you experience, and musing about what that would mean for you. You have more say over what goes on inside of you. For that reason, I highly recommend including how you want to feel, how you want to see yourself or someone else, how you want to experience time, etc. throughout the day. - Amber Krys, AmberKrys.com Wish One: Day DreamingWhat I mean by day dreaming is what Amber Krys suggests in the quote above: starting each day by thinking about and feeling about the day you want to have. And I am in love with the ideas she suggests. I already have a practice each day of asking how I want the day to feel and what I want both to do and to experience that day. To that, I want to add the questions about how I want to see myself and others. And maybe how I want to feel about life, in general. And Amber Krys suggests a follow-up step that I have tried before (on Christmas day, even) and I can tell you it works. Think of music that you know will make you feel the way you want to and listen to it! For bonus points, move your body at the same time. Now you're cooking with gas. Take a moment to try a little day dreaming now, and ask yourself those questions, first about your year, and then about your day today. And then, guess what. I do also want you to daydream - and imagine those thoughts, feelings and experiences, perhaps while listening to music. Here's the thing: if you try it, you're so much more likely to get what you want than if you don't. Wish Two: A Year of |
