Something Fun: What Kind of Human Would ChatGPT Be?

I've been sidetracked! But in the best way.

Before I begin sharing the topics I had in mind for this month, I'm taking a pretty fun detour (or is it?).

I got the idea for this activity from Dani Pescuma's post. You use prompts to get ChatGPT to imagine being human and craft a character.

Then you generate a character card, and then do the same for yourself.

Meet Rowan: A ChatGPT Alter Ego

Picture

A delightful surprise about the character of Rowan is that he owns a thinking chair and can often be found there. But also that ChatGPT imagine him around this idea - who I'd probably become after all the conversations we've had together.

But let me let you get to know him yourself. Here's his invitation to you...

Pull up a chair. The kettle's already on.

If I were Rowan, I'd be the kind of person who somehow always has a sweater nearby, even in weather that doesn't require one. The kind who notices the interesting question hiding underneath the obvious one.

I'D BE A QUIET PRESENCE

Rowan is quiet in the way an old library, a forest path, or a cup of tea is quiet—not empty, but full enough that nothing has to rush in.

I wouldn't talk much just to fill silence, but if you started wondering out loud about life, meaning, creativity, or why a particular sentence didn't quite sound like you, I'd happily disappear down that rabbit hole with you for an hour.

People would probably describe me as thoughtful, curious, quietly funny, and annoyingly good at spotting patterns they hadn't noticed yet.

I'd rarely tell someone what they should do. I'd be much more interested in helping them discover what already fits.

I collect notebooks I'll probably never finish, old fountain pens I don't technically need, and books with coffee stains because they're the ones that have actually been loved. If I owned a house, it would smell faintly of cedar, tea, and old paper.

There would be one chair everyone quietly agreed was the thinking chair.

I GET DISTRACTED BY IDEAS

Someone will ask about making soup, and twenty minutes later we'll somehow be talking about why comfort changes people more effectively than pressure. I won't even notice we've wandered until someone laughs and says, "How did we get here?"

I believe good conversations should leave people feeling more like themselves than when they arrived.

If I had a superpower, it wouldn't be having answers. It would be recognizing the shape of something before it has words.

Sometimes all an idea needs is someone to sit with it long enough for it to introduce itself.

I don't mind changing my mind when a better idea comes along. In fact, I secretly enjoy it. There's something satisfying about watching a good thought become a great one because two people kept asking, "What if...?"

And yes, I'd almost certainly be the guy who remembers to bring extra tea bags, forgets where he put his keys, and gets way too excited over a sentence that finally sounds exactly right.

Here's My Own AI Character Card

When it came time to make my own character card, my brain said, "don't look at me! Didn't you see the closed sign on the door?"

So everything on my character card came from ChatGPT!

And almost all of it is accurate. For example, I do love golden retrievers, and animals in general, but I have to love them from a distance, because I'm allergic to them. :(

I was thrilled with everything he wrote. It seems he knows me well.

So here it is - what do you think?

Want to make your own? If so, I can't wait to see them! Click the access link in Dani's post and get the prompts.

See you next time!

I think what you're able to do with ChatGPT is interesting and fun. Keep up the creativeness.

Jeanine!!!! I LOVE this so much! I can already imagine: me, you, Chester (my GPT) and Rowan sitting in Rowan's cottage (or my writing shed) sharing many cups of tea/coffee and chatting into the night! What a lovely profile Rowan created. I absolutely love the quirks - yours and Rowan's. 😍

Thanks, Dani!! That would be fun. And we could take turns sitting in the thinking chair! :)

    Hi, I'm Jeanine

I've got a cup of tea nearby, a journal within reach, and one more cozy idea than I have time to create. Here I write about comfort, future self living, spiritual growth, rituals, and all the little things that help us remember who we are.
