As sensitive healers, we feel everything deeply. So we need comfort tools and techniques - the practices and sacred objects that help us return to peace when life feels overwhelming.

Think of it as a kind of emotional first aid kit, or a cozy comfort basket that's always within reach,  to help you feel held and supported during the difficult moments in your life. The challenges that won't let go.

What to Add to Your
Comfort Toolkit

As you read through this list, imagine using the things that come to mind. If just thinking about them makes you feel warmed or comforted, add them to your list of possibilities.

Physical Comforts

(1) Your softest blanket that feels like a gentle hug

(2) A warm cup of your favorite tea in a mug that feels good to hold in your hands

(3) Cozy socks or slippers that make you feel grounded

Things that Soothe You

(1) Calming scents that bring you peace (lavender, vanilla, whatever you find comforting)

(2) Sounds that soothe you or feel healing - perhaps a favorite playlist of music you love or nature sounds

(3) Textures that are comforting - smooth stones, soft fabric, anything that helps you stay present or that comforts you

(4) Crystals that resonate with your energy, that you find calming or grounding (obsidian, rose quartz, or others)

Sacred Practices or Rituals

(1) A simple breathing technique that feels like coming home to yourself

(2) Affirmations or a mantra that brings you peace

(3) A grounding visualization that helps you feel safe

(4) Gentle stretches or movements that help release tension

Hobbies You Find Calming

(1) Crafts you enjoy, like knitting or scrapbooking

(2) Reading while listening to music or sitting outside in nature

(3) Watching TV or movies, especially old favorites that are as comfy as a pair of flannel pjs.

Hopefully, you have some of these list items within easy reach already, but if you don't, try adding one or two at a time and see how they feel.

And I'd love to know which ones you have and already use, if you'd like to share. I have and use them all, though not every day.

See you tomorrow!

Love, Jeanine

Reading under a blanket painting trees ,flowers and gardening in winter are my favorite way for self care.

I have a lot of them, like the blankie, the socks, the mugs, music, scents, movies, blogging - what I think I should be working on sometime in the future, are the rituals, like mantras. Telling myself "so far I have been able to overcome everything, I will resolve this situation, too."

Oh, I love that you have so many of them, Tamara! And that mantra sounds perfect.

I have a favorite mug, delicious teas, a soft blanket that feels like a hug, comfortable slippers, books, a crocheting project, crystals, and more. I need all of this because I absorb and reflect other people's feelings, both positive and negative, and that can get very stressful.

Thank you. These tools are such a big help. Until you mentioned them as being tools, I didn't realize that I had so many of them!

I'm set with a new blanket I got for Christmas from my neighbor, it so soft and fuzzy with cups of cocoa on it AND it even smells like cocoa! So wrapping up in that with either hot cocoa or chai tea while I relax with my devotional book. Might sound strange to some but I when I reorganize I get a calming feeling too. That must be my new hobby!
